Educational Programs

The Melanoma International Foundation provides a wide variety of educational programs to the public. If you would like to request a program, please contact Lisa Newcomb, our National Director.

Health & Wellness Fairs:    Is your company or organization hosting a health and wellness fair? MIF can staff a table, providing important information about skin self-exam, sun safe behaviors and the the dangers of tanning salons. Frequently, we also have giveaways such as sunscreen samples and bookmarks.

Lunchtime (anytime) Learning:    This is our most requested program and typically it takes place at a civic organization meeting (Lion's Club, Rotary Club, etc) or someone's workplace. One of MIF's staff members will cover the following topics and open up the floor for questions about:

* Melanoma:  Who is at risk?

* Melanoma Prevention:  pointers about sunsafety

* Skin Self-Examination to find melanoma early

* Opportunities to get involved with MIF

This presentation typically requires 1/2 hour. If additional time is available, we may be able to take photos showing sun damage with our UV camera.

Early Childhood Program: MIF staff members are available to speak to new parents groups regarding ways to keep their babies safe from the sun and develop a lifetime of sun safe behaviors.

Sun Safe Play: This program is still under development. Stay tuned for more details.
